Black Pottery Culture, also named Longshan Culture, originated from late Neolithic culture of northern China, dated from about 3000 to 1900 BC. The Longshan culture was noted for its highly polished black pottery. "Eggshell pottery" is the most famous handicrafts among them and it was praised as "the most exquisite production in ancient world's" by Encyclopedia Britannica due to it's features of " black as painting, bright as mirror, thin as paper and sound as bell". When American President Nixon visited China in 1972, he asked to look at China's eggshell pottery.
But such outstanding production and firing process were lost from 1800 years ago from bronze coming out and popular during Han Dynasty, so all black pottery crafts were buried into the ground until they were discovered again by Archaeologists in 1928 in Shandong Zhangqiu area. Though more than 50 years research and efforts by many craftsmen, finally black pottery production and firing process were cracked in 1980 in Dezhou City, the carbonization technique make the ancient black pottery art reappear and reproduce its past radiance.
Our black pottery crafts produced based on the ancient handmade forming, carving and firing, what is more, we also created new designs combining Chinese Traditional Culture such as Pen-craft, Painting, Line Drawing, Han Vatan Art, Lacquer Painting, Cloisonne arts together with black pottery arts to make them the most unique and special arts in the world.
